Rebuilding Your Identity
You want to figure out who you are when the role that defined you is gone, and start building a self-concept that's yours.
The role ended. The title's gone. The relationship shifted. And now you're not sure who you are without it. Over 14 days, you'll grieve the version of yourself you've lost, discover what's still true about you underneath the roles, and start forming a self-concept that belongs to you, not to a job, a relationship, or who you used to be.
Start this pathWhere it goes
This journey is for anyone who built their sense of self around a role that's now gone, and who feels unmoored without it. Over 14 days, you'll grieve that version of yourself, separate what was truly you from what the role required, and start building an identity that belongs to you alone.
The approach
ACT + Awe Practices
This journey asks you to sit with loss and uncertainty (classic acceptance work) while using daily reflection to distinguish what was externally imposed from what's genuinely yours, which is exactly what expressive writing helps surface.
KindMind is an online journal with tools for self-discovery and growth. We draw on these approaches because they hold up well in self-guided work. This is not treatment, and it is not a substitute for working with a therapist or counselor when that is the right call.
Day by day
14 short sessions, in order. The guide walks each one with you and adapts it to what you bring.
Part 1: The Unraveling
The Moment Everything Shifted
You'll write about the specific moment when you realized the old version was over.
Grieving Who You Were
You'll name what you're actually grieving and let yourself feel the weight of it.
The Roles You Played
You'll map the roles you played and notice which ones felt true versus obligatory.
The Things People Say
You'll write down the things people say now and notice what lands wrong or right.
Sitting with "I Don't Know"
You'll practice sitting with not knowing who you are yet, without rushing to fill it.
What You Lost vs. What You Were Freed From
You'll list what the loss took and what it unexpectedly freed you from.
Week One Reflection
You'll look back at the first week and notice what's shifting inside you.
Part 2: Discovering What Remains
What's Still True
You'll write down what's still true about you underneath all the roles that changed.
Old Interests, Forgotten Selves
You'll revisit old interests and parts of yourself that got shelved or forgotten.
Their Story vs. Yours
You'll separate the story other people tell about you from the one you're building.
Permission to Change
You'll give yourself explicit permission to become someone different than you were.
Trying On New Versions
You'll experiment with small ways of being that feel new or long-dormant.
Making Peace with Becoming
You'll make peace with the fact that becoming is ongoing, not a destination.
Who You Are Now
You'll write a portrait of who you are right now, roles or not.
